Laminated Elastomeric Bearings Design Standards Prior to 1983 most of the Laminated Elastomeric Bearings used in Thailand were designed in accordance with British Department of Environment Technical Memorandum No. BE 1/76. Thereafter British Standard BS5400 has become more popular for the reason that bearings designed under this standard are more compact in sizes while having all the required properties. For the mentioned reason, AASHTO standard is rarely used in the bearing design. Advance Polymer usually designs and manufactures Laminated Elastomeric Bearings in accordance with BS 5400 and AASHTO. However, we have no difficulty in adopting any other standard preferred by the clients. Quality Control starts from the selection of raw materials, especially the elastomer, which may be either natural rubber or Neoprene Synthetic Rubber. In case of Natural Rubber, only grade 1 special is used. In case of Neoprene, only products from reliable manufacturer , such as Dupont, are used. In the master batch mixing, regular sampling for physical properties testing is made in every batch. Every step in the manufacturing process in under close supervision of experienced engineer. Every piece (100%) of finished bearings goes through "Quick Production Testing" (Vertical Load/Compression). Random sampling is regularly made for testing of all physical properties. We also perform a stiffness test and shear test on each type of bearing. For the best result, Laminated Elastomeric Bearings should be "tailor made" to suit the vertical load, horizontal movement(in one or two directions), and rotation (in one or two axes). It is not possible that "manufacture's standard types" can perfectly accommodate all the requirements. If the clients come to us with detailed drawings, we can make the bearings to the exact details. Otherwise just give us the aforementioned loading and displacement data and plan dimension and we will serve you in the detailed design by the computer. |
